Torres ready to cooperate with transition team

OUTGOING Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said he is ready to cooperate with the transition teams of Gov.-elect Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov.-elect David M. Apatang to ensure a smooth transition process.

In an email to Variety, Torres said, “We look forward to a smooth transition between administrations, where our government services to the public will not be interrupted for our community.”

He added, “For our islands and in the spirit of collaboration, we extend our cooperation as the incoming administration and transition committee goes through the process.”

Former Rep. John “Liling” S. Reyes, the overall chairman of the transition and inauguration committee, said Gov. Torres is cooperating with them.

Former Speaker Oscar M. Babauta, who will oversee the inauguration set for Jan. 9, 2023, said it is a government-funded activity.

He added that Gov. Torres has committed to help the inauguration subcommittee.

The inauguration is projected to cost between $200,000 and $240,000, Babauta said.

Reyes assured “a smooth, timely, and orderly” transition of governmental power on Jan. 9, 2023.
