Tourists visiting Palau increase in June

According to the Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) monthly report, the number of visitors in June 2010 was 4,610 compared to 4,428 in June 2009.

Taiwan dominated Japan and Korea on the number of tourists visited the Island.

Taiwan ended the month with an increase of 116 (9.87%) arrivals compared to same month last year. From 1,175 in June 2009 to 1,291 in June 2010.

Japan, also showed an increase of 323 (43.01%) arrivals compared to same period last year. From the total of 751 in June 2009 to 1, 074 in June 2010.

Korea on the other hand, ended the month with a decrease of 141 tourists compared to same previous year with the number of 1,002 from 1,143 arrivals in June 2009.

From North America the number of arrivals down to 56 (-11.55%) compared to June 2009. The number of tourists in June 2010 was 429 from 485 in June 2009.

From Europe, the number of tourists also decreases to 8 (-8.25%). From 89 in June 2010 to 97 in June 2009.

Meanwhile, in Australia since the launch of Pacific Flier Airline on April 8, 2010 with direct flight from Brisbane to Koror, there was a significant increase of 72 (325%) of arrivals compared to same month last year.

From Hong Kong, there was a slightly decrease of -44.44 percent arrivals in June 2010 as compared to June 2009. This represents a decrease of 8 arrivals on the month-to-month comparison basis from 18 in June 2009 to 10 in June 2010.

From Philippines, the number of arrivals increases to 36.73 percent. From 49 in June 2009 to 67 in June 2010.
