Two inmates escaped, recaptured

The inmates identified as Kenon Demei and Ongor Petrus escaped early dawn on Monday from jail.

Lt. Peter Napoleon said that on Monday at 1:01 am, the Patrol Division received a call from the Division of Corrections that two inmates escaped from custody.Police were dispatched and searched for the inmates. At 4:20 am, a Corrections Officer received a call from outside that the escapees were seen in Mokko with a certain Jason Adriano.The inmates and Adriano were aboard a green sedan car and were travelling on the road when spotted by the police.The car driven by Adriano was heading towards Ngerbeched when pulled over by the police.A certain Arikawa Basilius was also at the vehicle when it was pulled over by the police. Basilius was seated at the passenger side.However, Demei and Petrus managed to escape and only Adriano and Basilius were apprehended.The following day, at 5:28 am, Demei was arrested at Mokko at Adriano’s residence. He was inside Adriano’s room when police arrested him.Petrus was apprehended at 8:05 pm on Tuesday, at the back of Palau Community College near the track and field.Demei and Petrus were detained back to the detention cell of the Division of Corrections.Demei was convicted of armed robbery while Petrus was convicted of murder. They have been in jail for more than two years now.
