Chretien T. Voerg
CHRETIEN T. Voerg, P.E. has resigned as acting executive director of the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation to take effect at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
In a letter dated April 26, 2023 to CUC board chair pro tempore Janice Tenorio, Voerg said he is also resigning his position as deputy executive director effective June 2, 2023. He said his last day of work will be June 1, 2023.
“As per Paragraph 8.B of my employment contract,” he said, “I request consideration to waive the thirty-day advance resignation notice. With your approval of this waiver, my last day of work will be May 12, 2023.”
Tenorio designated Voerg as acting executive director on Monday after firing CUC’s acting executive director, Dallas M. Peavey Jr. “for cause.”
Variety failed to get a comment from Voerg.
A CUC employee interviewed by Variety described Peavey and Voerg as “very professional.”
“It’s just sad, both are very…good to work with,” added the CUC employee who asked not to be named.
A CUC official, who also requested anonymity, said: “This is not good news. People take jobs in the CNMI to get away from the pressures of city life, not the opposite.”
Filling the executive director and deputy executive director positions is required by the federal court’s Stipulated Orders.
Variety learned that CUC board members will meet Thursday at 10:30 a.m.
