Wanted: Observers

Acting Minister of Justice and Director of Bureau of Public Safety Norvert H.Yano has urged all interested persons who possess a high school diploma to take a Placement Test on Monday, July 21, at 9 a.m. at the office of the Division of Marine Law Enforcement in Malakal, Koror.

The Placement test is a prerequisite for the Oceanic Fisheries Observers Training.

The Placement test and the Oceanic Observers Training will be administered by the South Pacific Commission and the Forum Fisheries Agency.

Yano said those who will pass the Placement Test would undergo training, which will commence on July 22.

The trainers will certify person who sufficiently meets the requirements.

Yano said, under the current agreement with locally based fishing companies, all certified observers are paid an observer’s fee of $75 per day when utilized by fishing companies.
