Weather bureau service now under VP office

President Remengesau signed addendum 3 to the Executive Order No. 203 which organizes the Executive Branch of Palau on Wednesday.

The president said since the National Emergency Office (NEMO) is administered under the direction of the Vice President office it is apt that the Weather Bureau works closely with NEMO.Presently the bureau is under the authority and supervision of the Ministry of Finance.The weather  service will be relocated to Airai State with new facilities to be built and funded by agencies of the United States government.It will be located in or near the Palau International Airport grounds.The executive order will become effective by January 1 , 2009.The weather service’s function is for the welfare and safety of the public and for international data collection and is funded by the United States National Weather Services which is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States Department of Commerce.
