Whipps still scouting for VP

In a campaign rally Sunday, Whipps however did not announce the name of his running mate saying that there are still many factors to be taken into consideration before he makes his choice.

“I must say that finding someone willing to take the job of Vice President is not so difficult as there are many very qualified candidates. However the job of Vice President is such a critical position that I feel that there are many important factors to be taken into account in choosing the right person,” Whipps said during his remarks at the campaign rally.He said his committee needs to hear the people’s concerns and opinions on who should he choose as his running mate,“It is imperative that we choose a partner who is equally committed to leading our nation with honesty, integrity, and the courage to do the right thing that benefits our Palauan people,” Whipps said.He said he will choose someone who shares his belief of putting principles and people first.Whipps said he choose someone who faces the challenges of the island and will make effort to deal with the challenges.Whipps asked supporters , his families and friends present at the rally to work with him to ensure a better and brighter future for Palau.During the announcement, Whipps showed a DVD presentation of his humble beginnings.He said he faced tough times growing up but from this he learned the value of hard work.He said as a leader, he will provide “ good and trustworthy leadership and the courage to do the right thing that benefits the people of Palau.”He said he will create opportunities for the Palauan people as he is aware that many of the people are struggling to provide for their families.“I know that as Palauans we can take pride in the fact that we have a history of respect, hard work, and always managing to provide for our families. Our forefathers survived on much less than what we have today, we likewise can survive through any tough times we face as a people and as an island nation,” Whipps said.
