HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — A woman was accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the Tita’s Bakery owner.
On Christmas Eve at about 9:15 p.m., officers with the Guam Police Department responded to a theft of property complaint at Tita’s Bakery in Sånta Rita-Sumai where it was reported that Cynthia Sarapio allegedly took money from a locked drawer in the home of the bakery’s owner.
According to the magistrate’s complaint, Sarapio, 35, was accused of taking $2,000 over a period of three days.
The owner of the bakery further reported that on Dec. 24 she was counting money that she stored in a locked drawer and noticed $2,000 was missing. Before that, on Dec. 14, the bakery owner noticed about $6,000 was taken from the same locked drawer in the owner’s residence.
“(The owner) added that the defendant was the only worker allowed in her residence and that the defendant knew where the key to the locked drawer containing the money was located,” according to the complaint.
Sarapio allegedly admitted to stealing $2,000 from the bakery and that for two months “she would take the money from the drawer in the residence” and from the owner’s purse.
“The defendant admitted the last time she stole money from (the owner) was on Dec. 24, 2023,” according to the complaint.
Sarapio was charged with two counts of theft as second-degree felonies and faces a maximum of 16 years in prison.
