Woman faces charges for stealing money from employer

Marbina Pangelinan was charged on May 22 for stealing money belonging to Mobil gas station in Topside.

Pangelinan appeared for arraignment on June 15 with Chief Public Defender Jason Shaw.Assistant Attorney General Tony DeRuiz appeared on behalf of the government.Pangelinan entered a not guilty plea and was released from custody after posting bond.Her next hearing was set for July 6 at 9:15 am.The affidavit stated that a theft incident that occurred at Mobil Topside was reported to the police on March 26.The court document stated that the owner conducted a routine check of the company’s sales on March 25 and noticed that sales information was missing.The document stated that Pangelinan was responsible for the records.The document stated that the owner summoned the defendant to his office later and asked other employees to open the cash box and count the money.The document stated that cash was short of $2,800.Pangelinan was then suspended for one week.The document stated that Pangelinan was in sole control of the change box and had the key from December 28 through March 25.The defendant was arrested on March 30. She admitted taking the money for personal use. She admitted taking money beginning on February through March.
