Lt. Gov. Tony Tareg, along with several cabinet members, were present as witnesses for the swearing-in ceremony. They included Ruotpong Pongliyab, director of the Department of Youth and Civic Affairs; Kensley Ikosia, director of the Office of Planning and Budget; Frank Haregaichig, director of the Department of Resources and Development and Lorenzo Sartilug, acting Director of the Department of Education.
The state legislature confirmed Parren’s nomination on Wednesday last week by adopting Resolution 8-45. The vote was 7 to 3 in favor.
Parren’s nomination was earlier rejected by the legislators, but the governor resubmitted it to them.
Parren is not the only nominee who has been appointed twice. The first choice of the administration for that post, Josede Figirilyong was nominated two times, but was never confirmed.
