The appropriates the sum of $837,550 from the special revenue fund of Yap to finance Yap State Public Service Corporation’s 25 percent matching fund for the renewable energy project during fiscal year 2011, and for other purposes.
The $837,550 approved by the Legislature is the state’s share of the $3.3 million grant recently approved by the European Commission for the alternate energy program.
The renewable energy project is targeted for 10 outer islands in Yap — Ngulu, four islands in Woleai: Falalus, Seliap, Tegailap, Wottegai, then Eauripik, two islands in Fechailap atoll: Falalop and Pigue, then Elato and Lamotrek.
