THE 670 Babes rallied to beat the Tokahao Ladies, 12-9, in the ladies division of the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
The Babes held the early advantage in the opening inning as Cat Dela Cruz and Semanina Saures earned an RBI each. The Ladies returned the favor after shutting down the Babes’ offense and squeezing in runs of their own later in the bottom of the second inning.
With the Babes holding two outs, the Ladies did not give up easily and were rewarded with consecutive singles when Anna Olupumar earned a two-RBI single followed by a three-run in-the-park homerun by Rayna Deleon Guerrero to seize the lead, 5-2.
The back-and-forth battle continued as the Babes equalized in the top of the third with five runs. Edilyn Benjamin highlighted the Babes’ comeback with two RBIs to regain control, 7-5.
The Babes extended the deficit, 12-5, with five more runs in the top of the sixth inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Ladies finally broke the silence with four runs. However, they were scoreless in the seventh and final inning and had to settle for defeat, 9-12.
Hot Shots vs Kosebakl
Also triumphant were the Hot Shots who bested Kosebakl, 16-13.
The Hot Shots grasped the early lead with nearly every batter rounding the bases for eight consecutive runs. They then added three more before turning the inning over.
Kosebakl gradually worked their way back with two runs in the bottom of the first and three runs in the third and fifth innings, but the Hot Shots scored five more runs in the top of the third en route to a 16-13 victory.
