AGAPE Christian School 1 and Marianas High School 2 are in the lead in bracket 1 of the high school division of the NMBA-PSS Interscholastic Badminton League with a total of 27 points.

ACS 1 had a flawless performance as they swept Saipan Southern High School 2 and Tinian Jr High School in all events at the Ada gym.

Against SSHS 2, ACS 1 excelled in the boys and girls doubles, boys and girls singles, and mixed doubles events, winning in just two sets to collect a total of 15 points.

ACS 1’s Tina, Ruth and Susie Zheng took the spotlight for the girls while David Zhao, Louis Chen, Allen Ye, James Fan and Michael Ma, delivered for the boys.

Against Tinian, ACS 1 swept the singles and doubles events to earn a total of 12 points for a grand total of 27 points. The mixed doubles were not played.

For its part, Marianas High School 2 swept Tinian Jr High School and Grace Christian Academy 2.

The MHS 2 players — Marlon Bautista, Jan Dumagan, Brandon Manacop, Paulo Quidato, Seiyul Hong, Zhimin Jin, Vianca Mangulabnan, Angieleysha Punzalan and Enmei Quan — outplayed Tinian in all five events to collect 15 points.

MHS 2 then won the singles and doubles against GCA 2 — the mixed doubles were not played — for 12 more points and a grand total of 27 points to share first place with ACS 1.

In third place is Saipan International School which claimed the girls singles and mixed doubles by two sets and the girls doubles in three sets while losing the boys singles and doubles against GCA 2.

Against SSHS 2, SIS won the girls singles and doubles but lost the boys singles and doubles for a total of 15 points.

GCA 2 is in fourth place with a total of seven points followed by SSHS 2 with five and Tinian with no points.
