AOI Braxton took the spotlight in the second event of the Triple Crown Open Water Swim Series by finishing first in the women’s division of the 1500m race Saturday in the waters off Guma Sakman.
The weather was far from ideal, but she and the other young swimmers were more than ready for the challenge.
Braxton herself broke the record set on July 10 by Asaka Litulumar who won the 1500m race with a time 21:23.9.
On Saturday, Braxton clocked an impressive 19:12.17.
Coming in second was Julia Jinang at 19:21.22 followed by Ayumi Obligacion (20:13.26), newcomer Lily Muldoon (23:15.22) and Yulia Aleksenko (24:54.03).
In the men’s division, Isaiah Aleksenko greatly improved his time of 18:21.1 in the first event to 15:05.23.
Kean Pajarillaga was second with a finish time of 16:03.59 while Daisuke Fitial (16:22.19) was third.
Fourth and fifth were Christian Villacrusis (18:12.44) and Nelsonjay Batallones (20:11.97).
In the women’s 1000m race, Maria Batallones was the first to cross the finish line at 11:09.87 or three minutes faster than her previous record.
In second place was Sari Barman, clocking at 13:17.64, while Jessica Ma settled for third place with a time of 13:27.09.
In the men’s division, Kouki Watanabe finished three minutes faster than in the previous event, clocking 11:02.04.
Joseph Zhang came in second (12:04.78) while Andrew Nunez took third place with a finish time of 12:06.03.
In the 500m race, Kaya Braxton was numero uno in the women’s division while Justin Ma’s topped the men’s.
Braxton cleared the course with a time of 06:43.34 beating Nagisa Litulumar (07:00.05) and Maria Guerrero( 07:27.63).
For his part, Justin Ma had a quicker finish this time around, clocking 06:23.51 while Shuman Barman (06:27.11) placed second and Richard Zhao (07:06.89) was third.
