THE Arcee 9Eleven Hustlers are the top team in the Tuesday Division of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after beating the 9Eleven DECM Wizards 10-3 on Tuesday at 9Eleven Restobar.
The Hustlers swept the singles 8-ball match with Rowel Mariano, Chester Hamoy and Joey Lucido contributing a win each.
The Wizards fought back with Lito Pangilinan and Daniel Miranda claiming the partners 8-ball match, followed by two more consecutive wins on the part of the Wizards to cut the Hustlers’ lead, 3-4.
However, that was the end for the Wizards who were dominated by the Hustlers in the succeeding matches.
The Hustlers, led by Robert Sanciangco and Albert Pangilinan, collected six straight wins to dispose the Wizards, 10-3.
Winners, too
Joining the winners circle was Bamboo Club 88 Str8Ball which defeated the Last Shot Ball Breakers 8-5.
At first, the Ball Breakers took control with a 2-1 lead in the opening singles 8-ball match.
Str8Ball’s Rey Hermogenes and Jess Farinas tried to even the score with a solo win in the partners 8-ball match, but the Ball Breakers managed to stay afloat with three more wins in the succeeding matches to remain in the lead, 5-3.
When all seemed over, Str8Ball suddenly found their second wind as Farinas, Hermogenes and Randy David took over the one-on-one matches with three consecutive wins followed by victories in the partners 8-ball matches to wreck the Ball Breakers 8-5.
Taste of victory
The third team to taste victory was Bamboo MJD Marianas Water which took down the Last Shot/IT&E Destroyers 8-5.
It started as a fairly even contest as both teams were tied 4-4 after the first four matches.
But Marianas Water’s Jerry Soriano, Roel Barretto and Phil Kalen stepped up in crunch time to notch four wins and demolish the Destroyers 8-5.
