ANN Bang and Sildrey Veloria again ruled their respective divisions on the third and final day of the Run Saipan Trinity event Monday morning on Beach Road in Oleai.
Bang and Veloria were the top female and male runners on Saturday, Day 1 of the event, in San Roque-Marpi.
On Day 2 in the women’s division, Bang clocked 00:24:55 and was the first to clear the course which stretched from the Beach Road pathway across from Modern Stationery to the area near the Marianas Visitors Authority office and back.
Rosemarie Chisato came in second at 00:25:50 while Terra Allen claimed third place with a time of 00:27:18.
In the men’s division, Veloria notched his second first-place finish with a time of 00:20:21 followed by Chad Taflinger in second at 00:22:01 and Chong Nam Lee in third at 00:22:54.
Day 2
Veloria, however, missed Day 2, Sunday, and it was Joel Buco who took the spotlight as he finished first in the race to Mt. Tapochao with a time of 00:31:36 while Chad Taflinger came in second at 00:32:49 and Theo Rodgers was third at 00:33:01.
In the women’s division, Rosemarie Chisato finished first with a time of 00:36:33, besting Ann Bang who clocked 00:37:21 to finish second, and Jessica Ortizo who came in third at 00:38:42
“It was not easy for me to complete consecutive races for three days, but I tried to enjoy this event like a festival!” said Bang. “I think the Day 2 race was a big challenge for me because I’m not good at uphill running.”
For Chisato, who usually finishes first in the women’s division, it was a challenging three-day event.
“To be honest, yesterday’s race [Day 2] was so hard but I pushed myself and told myself that I will reach the finish line,” she said. “The weather was also hot at the time that we started running, that’s why I struggled so much but, overall, I am so happy. Especially when I heard the voices of people cheering me on at the finish line.”
Variety’s next edition will highlight the top three winners of the Run Saipan Trinity.
