BAMBOO Club 88 BlackBall leads the Thursday Division of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after bagging their 25th win on July 22 at the VFW Bar.
BlackBall defanged the VFW Assassins 9-4.
Both teams played as equals throughout the first half of the game before BlackBall’s Jess Farinas and Rey Hermogenes drew first blood.
But the Assassins’ Mei Rengiil and Dean Borja managed to win the remaining two rounds to split the opening Singles 8-Ball match.
The Assassins took the lead for the first time after Julian Reyes and Anson Smith topped the first round of the Partners 8-Ball match. However, BlackBall’s Rey Hermogenes and Randy David claimed the next round to tie the match, 3-3.
BlackBall’s Farinas and David then won three of the four rounds of the Singles 8-Ball match to regain control, 6-4.
Their sudden rally disrupted the Assassins’ momentum, allowing BlackBall to grab three wins in two matches en route to a 9-4 victory.
Eagles Eye vs Homeboyz
For their part, Last Shot Eagles Eye edged Last Shot/IT&E Homeboyz, 7-6.
The Homeboyz started strong with Rey Pinangay, Jeff Garcia and Cesar Sangalang claiming three of the four rounds in the opening Singles 8-Ball match.
But Eagles Eye soon found their rhythm as the pair of Rolly Villanueva and Warlee Ellama, along with the duo of Zaldy Quebral and Eric Baugh, swept the Partners 8-Ball match to even the score, 3-3.
The two teams also split the second Singles 8-Ball match, but in team play, Eagles Eye soared to earn their second sweep and secure the win, 7-6.
Tres Marias vs SCS
The match between Bamboo MJD Tres Marias and Sands Team SCS was another nail-biter.
Thanks to their teamwork, the Tres Marias swept both Partners 8-Ball matches while winning key one-on-one rounds to emerge victorious, 7-6.
The last team to make it to the win column was the Last Shot DECM Wizards who defeated the Last Shot Ball Shooters 9-4.
