BUTCH Sublemente topped the mountain bike category of the Saipan Unity Lions Club 5th Annual Bike Race on Sunday at Banzai Cliff.
It was a tough 35-kilometer event, but that did not stop Sublemente from excelling as he crossed the finish line with a time of 01:08:02.
The race route covered Banzai Cliff to Mobil, Suicide Cliff, Bird Island, Grotto before returning to Banzai Cliff.
In second and third places were Hernand Cristobal and Mike Hokage.
In the 40 and below age group, Ariel Moses took first place, beating Napoleon Solis and Rene Avila.
As for the 40-44 group, Fredz Licayan, the lone participant, finished first.
Leading the 45-49 group was Nelson Pagaduan followed by Rosalio Quintos and Nicolas Angelo.
In the 50-54 group, Nestor Abing led the pack with Jojo Valencia and Ronald Villapricia trailing behind.
Norlo Jacosalem leads the 55-59 age group with Feoro Derexes and Romy Ampit right behind; and in the 60 & above age group, Ponce Corotam finished first, besting Boboy Aguilar and Rey Tentia.
Donnie Santos ruled the road bike men’s division with Paul Abordando and Christopher Manalo completing the top three list.
In the women’s short course division, Vernice Estera and Rowena Houck took first and second places.
Lastly, in the short course men’s division, Edwin Angeles claimed the top spot followed by Angel De Guzman and Larry Malis.
Edwin Angeles, 49, said he “executed very well as planned. I really worked hard for this. I bike in my free time. I usually bike three times a week, but I only had one week to prepare for this event.”
He added, “But if you execute very well, you will definitely see results.”
