THE Cardinals remain undefeated with a 9-0 record following their victory over the Falcons, 14-8, Wednesday in the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
The Falcons started strong with Benen Iguel and AJ Evangelista allowing Ian Norita and Giovanni Mira to slip past home to each earn an RBI single before getting tagged out.
The Cardinals replied with a run contributed by Nate Camacho’s RBI double.
In the third inning, the Cardinals’ onslaught began with six runs. Brian Camacho hit a single which brought in Shane Yamada and Nate Camacho for two RBIs followed by Pat Tenorio and Eli Aughenbaugh with an RBI single each.
Keoni Kaipat stretched his team’s lead even further with a two-RBI double highlight before he was tagged out in his attempt to reach third base. But with another run scored in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cardinals held a comfortable 8-2 advantage.
The Falcons tried to catch up in the top of the fifth with three runs, but the Cardinals retaliated with four runs.
In the sixth, Falcons scored one run while the Cardinals bagged two to maintain the safe distance.
The Falcons still hoped for a comeback in the top of the seventh and final inning, but was held to just two runs before the Cardinals snagged the third out via flyball to third to seal victory, 14-8.
