THE Cardinals remain unscathed in the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League after notching their eighth consecutive win by trouncing the Bandits Wednesday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The Cardinals quickly set the tone and allowed no hits in the top of the opening inning while the Bandits struggled to find the strike zone, allowing the Cardinals’ Shane Yamada to round the bases after drawing a walk, and give his team the lead, 1-0.

The Bandits  answered back in the top of the second inning due to the Cardinals’ errors that enabled Ben Taisakan and Wally Emul to slip past home.

But the Bandits’ lead was short-lived as Yamada added another run, this time with the help of Nokki Saralu’s single, which earned him an RBI to even the score, 2-2.

The Bandits were out of the action for nearly the remainder of the game and committed several errors.

The Cardinals, for their part,  flourished and scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with Roland Masaharu and Pat Tenorio collecting an RBI each.

The onslaught continued in the fifth and was highlighted by Yamada and Saralu who contributed a run each with an RBI double and a RBI single, respectively, to extend their team’s lead, 8-2.

The Bandits tried to catch up and scored a solo run in the top of the sixth, but the Cardinals retaliated with seven runs to end the game an inning early via the mercy rule, 15-3.
