CHONG’S Corporation and First Hawaiian Bank on Thursday each donated $10,000 cash to the Northern Marianas Pacific Mini Games 2022 organizing committee.
Committee CEO Ben Babauta and members received Chong’s donation from Chong’s Corporation President Joanna Pai, sales representative Rosal Nicdao, accountant Camille Bocago, and product manager Honesto Servida at their Gualo Rai office.
“Thank you so much,” Babauta told them. “You’ve been continually supporting all the big events and we truly appreciate what you’ve done to the Marianas High School gym.”
Babauta added, “It’s quite important for us, as host and competition venue, to ensure that we meet the requirements of the mini games. It will be very exciting at the MHS gym as there will be close to 200 athletes in the weightlifting events.”
Besides donating $10,000 Chong’s Corporation also refurbished two air-conditioning units at the MHS gym.
“This is for the community,” Chong’s Corporation President Joanna Pai said. “For us, a small business donating a small amount, we are happy to support the Pacific Mini Games and be a part of history.”
Another generous donor
First Hawaiian Bank handed its $10,000 donation to Babauta and games organizing committee member Kamerin Pereira at FHB’s Oleai branch on Thursday.
“We would like to thank First Hawaiian Bank for their generous contribution,” Babauta. “This will go a long way — as the host, we provide accommodations such as hotels, transportation and catering.”
First Hawaiian Bank Vice President & Area Manager Vickie Izuka said they are happy to support the Pacific Mini Games.
“And we are very excited to see our community in the forefront of this great event and we welcome all those visiting the island with a ‘Hafa Adai,’ ” she said. “Good luck to those participating in the games. Biba! At First Hawaiian Bank, it all starts with YES!”
The 2022 Pacific Mini Games will be held in the CNMI from June 17 to 25.
