D9ER’S collected their second win in the 2023 Tan Holdings Saipan Baseball League by beating the CK Bears, 11-8, Thursday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
The CK Bears drew first blood in the bottom of the first inning with Angel Palacios taking the spotlight as he connected a triple. which brought in Henry and Jose Lizama for two RBIs. Palacios then rounded the bases himself aided by Jeffrey Lizama’s RBI single. Lizama, in turn, was brought in by Ton Leon Guerrero’s RBI single to give the CK Bears a comfortable 4-0 lead.
D9er’s retaliated in the top of the second inning with two quick runs orchestrated by Ben Lizama’s two-RBI single to cut down the deficit, 2-4.
D9er’s then denied any more runs in the next four innings, and capitalized on the CK Bears’ errors with four more runs in the top of the fourth to take over the lead, 6-4.
In the sixth inning, D9er’s further widened the gap as Tindin Leon Guerrero joined the highlight reel with a two-RBI triple, bringing in Ben Lizama and EJ Tenorio. Tindin Leon Guerrero was later brought in by Derrick Sablan’s sacrifice play for a 9-4 lead.
But the CK Bears did not go down without a fight, squeezing in four runs to cut the lead, 8-9.
However, the CK Bears failed to maintain control as they struggled once again on defense, allowing two runs to slip by. They then failed to score in the bottom of the seventh and last inning as D9er’s ran away with the win, 11-8.
