DAS Krishnan bested John Matsumoto in a score-card playoff to win the Saipan Golf Association February Ace of the Month title on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
Things were rolling the right way for Krishnan as he closed the front nine with a gross of 42 and then tightened his swing on the back nine for a gross of 40 and a gross total of 82. With a handicap of 12, Krishnan’s net score was 70.
John Matsumoto, for his part, shot a gross of 48 on the front nine and 47 on the back for a gross total of 95. With a 25 handicap, his net score was 70, but he had to settle for second place because Krishnan had the better tie-break score.
Coming in third was Frances Sablan whose gross scores were 45 and 55 for a total gross of 100. Her 28 handicap gave her a net score of 71.
In the option plays, Ben Aldan bagged the Closest to the Pin Award for hole #6 while Frances Sablan and Das Krishnan reigned on holes #8 and #12.
Patrick Cepeda had the Longest Drive on hole #2 while Rick Kautz ruled on hole #18.
Besides Das Krishnan, SGA’s other 2023 Ace of the Month winner so far is Ray Salas who won the title in January.
The SGA 2023 March Ace of the Month Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Coral Ocean Resort. Show time is 8:30 a.m. and tee time is 9 a.m.
