THE VFW IT&E Destroyers and the Ideal Signs JC Rustlers have secured spots in the Tuesday Division finale of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after eliminating their semifinal opponents.
The Destroyers faced Bamboo NSA Kabalen which was the first to draw blood thanks to the teamwork of Jerry Soriano and Cesar Sangalang who claimed the opening Partners 8-Ball game by outscoring the Destroyers’ Rolly Villanueva and Roman Rodriguez.
Kabalen’s lead continued to grow after winning two of the three rounds in the Singles 8-Ball game.
Down 1-3, the Destroyers staged a rally that started with Nolan Cultura and Rey Pinangay notching the second Partners 8-Ball game before winning 2-1 in the next singles scene to even the score, 4-4.
The Destroyers then took over the next three games to clinch match victory, 9-4.
Rustlers vs Rebels
In the other semifinal match, the Ideal Signs JC Rustlers outplayed the 9 Eleven Rebels, 9-7.
The Rebels played well as a team, but the Rustlers were superb in one-on-one games.
With the score tied at 6-6, the Rustlers’ Chester Hamoy and Rowel “Cobra” Mariano bagged the fourth Partners 8-Ball game while team mate Albert Pangilinan scored a 2-1 run in the singles game to eliminate the Rebels, 9-7.
The Destroyers and the Rustlers will vie for the championship title on Tuesday next week.
