Ethan Yumul tops Newbies Class

ETHAN Yumul continues to hone his skills in the Marianas Racing Association as he placed first in the Newbies Class of the Turkey Cross Thanksgiving Motocross Race Sunday  at Cowtown Raceway Park.

So far, Yumul has consistently finished on top of the Newbies Class and has shown no signs of slowing down.

In the first heat on Sunday, he established dominance by staying ahead of the competition and finishing first to collect 50 points. The second heat was no different as the young rider continued to display control while executing tight turns with finesse to notch another 25-point finish.

In second place was Bob Ferrer who gave it his all to earn a total of 44 points.

In third place was Frankie Sablan with 38 points.

Although Ponce Rasa garnered the same number of points, he finished behind Sablan in the second heat which mattered the most.

The fifth placer, Maribel Igitol, did not finish the first heat, but redeemed herself in the second by scoring 16 points.

Novice and Veterans

In the Novice Class, Aric Cruz finished first with a perfect 50-point score.

Following behind were Byron Castro in second place with 42 points; Tristan Sablan, third, 40 points; and Corry Pangelinan, fourth, 38 points.

In the Veterans Class, Dave Celis remains the top rider to beat. But he did not have it easy as Cuki Alvarez finished first in heat one.

But in the second heat, Celis went full-throttle to clinch first place  overall while Alvarez had to settle for second place. Each scored 45 points.

The third place spot was claimed by Champi Villacanes with 40 points. Charles Cepeda was fourth, 34 points; Ray Yumul, fifth, 33 points; and Julian Salalila, sixth, 31 points.

Experts, Big Boy ATV

In the Expert Division, it was Cuki Alvarez’s time to shine.

Shane Alvarez claimed the top spot in the first heat but his father Cuki cranked the throttle in the second and excelled beyond expectations to secure first place overall with 45 points.

Shane placed second while his brother Alverick Alvarez finished third and Ellery Cruz was  fourth.

In the Big Boy ATV Class, Henry Camacho stole the show with a come-from-behind finish. He placed third in the first heat but  was a completely different rider in the next heat which he topped to earn a total of 45 points.

Christian Camacho finished strong in the first heat to earn 25 points, but he lost touch in the second heat and fell to third place and second place overall with 45 points.
