FLOR Jones earned the spotlight this month by winning the CNMI Women’s Golf Association June golf tournament with a net score of 70 on Saturday, June 10 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, east course.
The balanced performance of Jones was the key to her victory. She started strong and her ball placements and finishing putts on the front nine placed her ahead of the competition with a gross score of 43.
The transition to the back nine did not disrupt her flow as she slightly improved her performance with a score of 42 for a gross total of 85. With a handicap of 15, her net score was 70, more than enough to clinch this month’s title.
In second place was Rose Rohringer who shot 46 on the front and back nines for a gross total of 92. Her 15 handicap gave her a net score of 77.
Finishing third was Yuko Togawa who recorded the best front nine performance with a gross of 40, but lost her touch on the back nine as she ended with a score of 48 for a gross total of 88. With a handicap of 7, her net score was 81.
