FRANCES M. Sablan has made it back to the elite lineup of the Saipan Golf Association after clinching the 2021 March Ace of the Month title by besting Larry Deleon Guerrero in a scorecard playoff at Coral Ocean Golf Resort.
Sablan played with consistency as she cleared the front nine with a gross of 52 and remained steady on the back nine with a gross of 52 for a total gross of 104. With a handicap of 31, her net score was 73.
Larry Deleon Guerrero also had a stellar performance, scoring a gross of 45 on the front and back nines for a total of 90. With a 17 handicap, his net score, like Sablan’s, was 73.
But the scorecard playoff broke the tie and gave Sablan the March Ace title.
Filling the top three list was Joe I. Sablan who shot a gross of 54 on the front nine and 47 on the back nine for a total gross of 101. With a 27 handicap, his net score was 74 — just a point behind the top two.
In the Closest to the Pin side event, the winners were Jung Eun Teack at hole #3; Rene Batallones, hole #7; Tony Benavente, hole #12; and Alex Tudela, hole #14.
As for the Longest Drive, Janet Torres won the prize at hole #7 while Tony Benavente reigned at hole #18.
The next SGA Ace of the Month Tournament will be played at the Kingfisher Golf Links on April 18, 2021, Sunday. Tee time is at 9 a.m. with a show time of 8:30 a.m.
