JIMIN Woo, Sean Lee and Isabel Heras of Team #5 won the Senior Flight of the Marianas International Invitational Team Cup after besting the rest of the competition over the weekend at American Memorial Park.

Whether it was Singles or Doubles, Team #5 was in control throughout all its matches.
Against Team #1’s TJ Bellama, Colin Ramsey and Serin Chung, Team #5 members showcased their finesse and dominance.
Jimin Woo outgunned Colin Ramsey in the Men’s Singles 6-2, while Sean Lee had a similar victory over Team #1 alternate Isaac Heo 6-2. In the Women’s Singles, Heras overpowered Chung 6-1.
In the Men’s Doubles, Woo and Lee outmatched Ramsey and Heo 6-2 while Heras and Lee’s teamwork was too much for Ramsey and Serin who lost 1-6.
For sweeping all five matches, Team #5 collected 25 points.
Against Team #2’s Moris Villanueva, Jun Wang and Tania Tan, Team #5 remained in control and won all five matches.
Woo slipped past Villanueva 6-4, Lee got the better of Wang 6-2, and Heras triumphed over Tan 6-1 in the Singles.
Together, Woo and Lee powered past Wang and Villanueva 6-3 while Woo and Heras defeated Villanueva and Tan 6-3.
The Team #5 players prolonged their streak against Team #4’s Ken Song, David Kwon and Malika Miyawaki for yet another sweep.
Team #5’s toughest match was against Team #3’s Heimanarii Lai San, Andy Kim and Hyejin Elliot.
Woo was the first to draw blood against Lai San 6-3 in the Men’s Singles but Kim was able to balance the score as he defeated Lee 6-4.
Team #5 then regained the upper hand after Heras toppled Elliot in the Women’s Singles 6-2, but Team #3’s Lai San and Kim worked well as a pair as they took down Woo and Lee 7-5 to even the score with two wins each.
In the final Mixed Doubles match, Woo and Heras managed to keep their heads up high and worked as a team to defeat Lai San and Elliot 6-3 to clinch the overall match victory 3-2 and win the Senior Flight championship.
For this year’s Marianas International Invitational Team Cup, each team consisted of three players — two males and one female. The tournament was a round-robin event in which each team played every other team. All matches were played in one set.
