BESIDES the Ace of Aces tournament, the Amigos Golf Club also held a two-day non-ace tournament which was won by Justin Mizutani.
On day one, Mizutani cleared 18 holes without a single birdie but made up for it with 12 pars for a gross score of 80. With a 16 handicap, his net score was 64.
On day two. Mizutani made more bogeys, but he managed to notch a gross score of 85, a net score of 69, and a total net score of 133.
In second place was Nick Guerrero who, on day one, shot a gross of 89 and, thanks to a 19 handicap, a net score of 70.
On day two, he improved his swing as he scored a gross of 87, a net score of 68 and a combined net total of 138.
In third place was Sherlyn Jones who sank two birdies on day one for a gross of 81 which was improved by a 13 handicap to a net score of 68.
On day two, she drained one birdie for a gross of 86, a net score of 73 and a combined net total of 141.
The rest of the top 10: Chris Guerrero in fourth place with a net total of 144, Ed Terlaje (150), Syl Ada (151), Nick Reyes (151), Paul Kaipat (152), Frank Ermitanio (153) and Joe Tudela (155).
Side events
On day one, Ed Terlaje bagged the Closest to the Pin Award on hole #4 while Nick Sablan was supreme on hole #5; Dave Jones on holes #6 and #11; Justin Mizutani on hole #13; Ed Manglona on hole #15; and Sixtus Aquino on hole #12.
For the longest drive on hole #18, the award went to Ned Norita and Frank Sablan.
Ace of Aces Dung Tenorio was also honored for making the least number of putts, 27, while Joe Sablan Jr. and Nick Reyes were recognized for making the most bogeys with 11 each.
Making the most birdies were Ned Norita with three in the 0-11 handicap category; Sherlyn Jones with two in the 12-16 handicap category; and Dave Jones and Chris Leon Guerrero with one each in the 17 and above handicap category.
For the most pars made, Dung Tenorio recorded 13 in the 0-11 handicap category; Mizutani, 12 pars in the 12-16 handicap category; and Nick Leon Guerrero with eight pars in the 17 and above handicap category.
Each of the side-event winners received a $30 cash prize.
On day two, Ned Norita led the Closest to the Pin list on hole #6; Frank Sablan was numero uno on hole #7; Sherlyn Jones on hole #8; Dung Tenorio on hole #12; Chris Guerrero on hole #15; Frank Ermitanio on hole #16; and Justin Mizutani on hole #17.
Frank Sablan also earned the Accurate Drive Award on hole #5 while Ned Norita and Sixtus Aquino earned the Longest Drive Award on hole #13.
Frank Ermitanio likewise received an award for making the least putts, 27, while Syl Ada was recognized for making the most bogeys, 13.
Dung Tenorio made the most birdies — two — in the 0-11 handicap category while Frank Ermitanio had two birdies in the 12-16 handicap category, and Dave Jones, Janet Torres, Mike Muna, Grina Mizutani and Sixtus Aquino had one birdie each in the 17 and above handicap category.
Dung Tenorio also made the most pars, 12, for the 0-11 handicap category while Justin Mizutani had seven pars in the 12-16 handicap category, and Ed Terlaje and Nick Leon Guerrero each recorded six pars in the 17 and above handicap category.
