KAGMAN continues to move up the ladder in the U13 boys division of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League after outscoring Finasisu, 26-19, Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.
Kagman played by the book as they focused on feeding the ball to Ioane Camacho and Dany Defang who thrived inside with four points apiece.
Finasisu equalized with a more aggressive approach as they constantly attacked the rim and found themselves in the free-throw line often. Jhun Pangelinan converted five points inside the paint while Greg Teregeyo contributed two as Finasisu trailed by just two points at halftime, 11-13.
In the second half, Kagman seized the spotlight as their players communicated well with ball movement to open up several shot opportunities. James Matsumoto and Camacho delivered the points while team mates James Enriquez, Jeff Pineda and Payton Pangelinan also chipped in.
Finasisu, for their part, struggled to find the bottom of the net due to Kagman’s pressure defense.
Finasisu’s Leon Duenas and Bong Saralu were able to penetrate to notch four points while team mate Teregeyo added two more from the charity line, but it wasn’t enough and they had to settle for defeat, 19-26.
Tanapag vs Oleai
Playing against Oleai, Tanapag emerged victorious, 35-28.
Oleai’s Peyton Basa found his stroke early in the game as he connected the first four buckets for eight points. However, Tanapag fought back thanks to the combined efforts of Derek Tenorio, Dane Tibayan and Hanz Ansus with two makes each to seize the lead, 18-15.
Oleai continued to rely on Basa’s ability to score as they transitioned into the second half during which he shined with nine points.
But Tanapag’s chemistry shined brighter with an all-around offense. Biboy Sabino provided the finishing touches with a triple while Tenorio and Ansus followed up with a pair of buckets to secure the win for their team, 35-28.
