Kagman High School wins men’s, co-ed outrigger races

KAGMAN High School’s men’s and co-ed teams are off to a great start in the 2020-2021 Public School System Interscholastic Points Race Series after dominating their respective divisions which gave the Ayuyus a 20-point lead Saturday at  Kilili Beach.

The men of KHS excelled in the two race categories. In the 1000m race, they quickly completed the course with a finish time of 00:05:52.060 to top the preliminaries while Marianas High School (00:06:08.300) finished 2nd and Saipan Southern High School (00:06:18.670) was 3rd.

In the finals, KHS finished first with a time of 00:06:04.000 and earned 10 points while MHS (00:06:11.490) was 2nd  and SSHS (00:06:21.750) settled for 3rd.

In the shorter 500m race, KHS was once again triumphant, clocking in at 00:02:45.610, beating SSHS (00:02:49.120) which finished 2nd and MHS (00:03:02.180) which came in third.

The finals further boosted KHS’ morale as the Ayuyus rounded the course with a finish time of 00:02:41.930 while MHS (00:02:50.810) finished 2nd and SSHS (00:02:54.240) 3rd.

The mixed team of KHS also proved to be a powerhouse, finishing first in the 1000m. The team topped the preliminaries with a time of 00:06:44.940, besting SSHS (00:06:55.040) and MHS (00:06:58.280).

 KHS then improved its time in the finals, coming in at 00:06:41.150.  SSHS (00:06:46.520) and MHS (00:07:03.400) placed 2nd and 3rd.

KHS was likewise dominant in the 500m, finishing first with a time of 00:03:01.120 followed by SSHS (00:03:02.460) and MHS (00:03:06.770).

The Ayuyus then pushed for a quicker time in the finals, clocking in at 00:02:52.180 while SSHS (00:03:01.170) came in 2nd and MHS (00:03:10.230) was 3rd.

Women’s division

In the women’s division, the MHS Dolphins came out on top in both categories.

MHS’s in-sync performance was unmatched as the Dolphins completed the 1000m prelim course with a finish time of 00:07:00.350, beating SSHS (00:07:25.320) and KHS (00:07:27.390).

The final race was a bit tougher but MHS still remained on top, clocking in at 00:07:16.000 while KHS (00:07:17.190) finished 2nd and SSHS (00:07:26.500) settled for 3rd.

In the 500m prelims, MHS had a slight hiccup, allowing KHS to take first place with a time of 00:03:25.180, but the Dolphins recuperated in the finals to snatch first place with a finish time of 00:03:31.550.
