THE Kanoa and Southern United football clubs remain at the top of the Flores–Pee Luwal (Intermediate) Division of the Dove Women’s League after beating their respective opponents Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

Kanoa collected their third win by outplaying the Paire Football Club, 4-1.

It was a slow start for both teams as they seemed equally matched, filling the  field with back-and-forth action. Neither was able to break through in the first 20 minutes of the game.

However, Kanoa eventually seized the momentum as their continuous pressure created small pockets that allowed Eli Iglecias to find the back of the net at the 25th minute mark for a 1-0 lead before halftime.

Kanoa kept the fire burning throughout the second half as they overwhelmed Paire with their aggressive pace.

Mary Kay Alferos scored at the 33rd minute mark followed by Yelyn Ha five minutes later. Alferos then connected her second goal at the 44th minute mark to extend the deficit, 4-0.

Although Paire could not prevent the inevitable defeat, they still gave it their all with Lindsay Davis squeezing in the team’s only goal of the day at the 78th minute mark to ease the pain, 1-4.
