THE two Kanoa Football Club teams tasted victory on Saturday as they overcame their respective opponents in the U14 boys division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Kanoa 1 continues to climb the rankings as they bested MP United Football Club 1, 3-1.
After an even exchange between the two teams during the first 20 minutes of the first half, Kanoa 1 managed to build enough momentum to launch an offensive.
After several attempts, they were finally rewarded at the 23rd minute mark as Maximus Taitano broke through and found the back of the net to hand his team the lead.
MPU 1 tried to hold their own, but they were eventually overwhelmed once again, allowing Kanoa 1’s Jayson Tagabuel to slice a shot at the 35th minute mark and extend the deficit, 2-0.
After the halftime break, MPU 1 returned hungry for vengeance and finally succeeded to close the gap, 1-2, thanks to Seo Yeom.
However, they failed to score again for the remainder of the match while Kanoa 1’s Akoni Matsumoto snuck in one more goal at the 48th minute mark to end the game with a bang, 3-1.
Kanoa 2 vs Shirley’s
Kanoa Football Club 2, for their part, defeated Shirley’s Football Club, 3-1.
Shirley’s drew first blood early in the first half thanks to Kody Maratita who connected the shot at the 12th minute mark.
Ten minutes later, Kanoa 2 evened the score with Izaiah Tenorio completing the transition play, 1-1.
Kanoa 2 kept the fuel burning throughout the second half as Donald Tagabuel Jr. contributed a goal at the 32nd minute mark while Tenorio scored another goal eight minutes later to secure the win, 3-1.
MPU 2 vs THFC
Also joining the spotlight were MPU 2 which outlasted the Tan Holdings Football Club, 4-2.
MPU 2’s Michael Miller and Landon Jordan each scored two goals while Emerson Brillo delivered two for THFC.
