Kuroda, Chavez top 6th Aquathon

SHUJI Kuroda and Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez finished first in their respective divisions in the Triathlon Association of the CNMI’s 6th Aquathon at  Paupau Beach on Saturday.

Kuroda and Chavez are known for being quick on their feet, but it was the swim segment that proved to be their toughest challenge.

In the men’s division, Kuroda quickly powered through the 1st leg, which was a 5km run, with ease.

However, when it came to the open water, it was Isaiah Aleksenko who completed the 1km swim in first place.

Fortunately for Kuroda, the race must be completed with another 2.5km run which he finished ahead of Aleksenko.

Shuji Kuroda took overall 1st place with a finish time of 00:56:19 followed by Isaiah Aleksenko in 2nd place at 00:57:22 while Whitney Altizer  was 3rd with a time of 01:00:37.

Making it to the top five list were Leith Poole, 01:01:59; and Travis Spaeth, 01:07:26.

In the women’s division, Chavez finished each leg in first place with Denis Myers and Kerri Bauer shadowing closely behind in the swim segment.
