The run is open to everyone and the fee is $10. All of the money collected will be given to a charity again this year, as it has for the past 15 years. There will be t-shirts or tank tops for the first 175 finishers and there will also be prizes for 13 age divisions.
Refreshments will also be provided. The run is 4.2 miles long and will have two aid stations. It begins at the main entrance of the Galleria on Beach Road, goes to Quartermaster Road, and back.
Registration forms will be available at the DFS Customer Information Counter from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday until Friday, June 19.
P. Thomas Picarro was the president of DFS Saipan from 1979 until 1992.
He passed away on June 18, 1993. He was an avid runner and had a full head of silver hair and he used to run along beach road from the Galleria to the tank at Quartermaster road. That is why it is called The Silver Streak.
