THE Tasi to Table 2nd Annual Mix Classic is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Smiling Cove Marina.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Tasi to Table, a 501(c)3 non-profit entity, and support its youth programs, which are implemented in collaboration with the CNMI Public School System.
The 2nd Annual Mix Classic is a new fishing tournament focused on pelagic fish species.
In order for your catch to qualify, they must include a combination of the following pelagic species: billfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, mahi mahi and skipjack tuna.
The combined weight of two different pelagic species — for example, billfish & wahoo or yellowfin tuna & skipjack tuna —will determine the winner.
“This derby— and Tasi To Table as a whole — is all about our community and the kids,” Tasi to Table President Gene Weaver said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone come out, catch some good fish, and support TTT and our students,” he added. “We’re very excited to host the TTT Mix Classic for another year, and best of luck to all the fishermen that will enter the derby!”
Participants will vie for the first-place prize of $3,000, second-place prize of $2,000, third-place prize of $1,000, fourth-place prize of $750, and fifth-place prize of $500.
Interested crews have until Friday, Sept. 8 to register from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Smiling Cove Marina. The fee is $200 for each vessel consisting of one captain and two anglers. There is an additional $30 fee for each additional angler.
Tasi to Table would like to thank and recognize the event sponsors: IT&E, IP&E, Bud Light, Fishing Tackle & Sporting Goods, and the Marianas Visitors Authority.
