Runners make their way through the course of the 2nd Annual Run Saipan & Salty Skin Pacific 5K race at Ladder Beach last year.
THE 3rd Annual Run Saipan & Salty Skin Pacific 5K race is set for Friday, Sept. 22, at the Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park.
The annual event “means a great deal for both Run Saipan and Salty Skin,” Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. said.
“It’s our once-a-year to exercise environmental stewardship…. This year…the toughest part will be running laps on all the levels [of the park] and going back and forth so it will definitely be a leg burner and mental burner,” Dela Cruz added.
The race will begin at the top of the park. Check-in time is 5 p.m. There will be a bib and t-shirt distribution followed by a race briefing at 5:35 p.m. The starting gun will be fired at 5:45 p.m.
As of Wednesday evening, 25 individuals had already registered online. Special discounts are available for Run Saipan members — check with your Run Saipan group for the promo code.
“Our board would like to thank Salty Skin Pacific for this continued partnership and for choosing to use cardiovascular activities to engage people and raise awareness for both the coast and the ocean environment,” Dela Cruz said.
