Acme Roofing proved its mettle in the sands of PIC in two sets, putting to a stop Off Twice’s hope in advancing to the semifinal round of the league.
Acme beat Off Twice, 18-21, 21-9, 21-17, in the opening game of the playoffs, and went on to pit against Thai One On this afternoon at 5:30.
Thai One On grabbed a win over MHS Peers in two straight sets, 21-16, 21-15.
On Game 3, Karakuchi faced off with Kimoichi, and eventually saw themselves on top of the match after three grueling sets.
No. 3 team, Karakuchi, turned back Kimoichi, 21-14, 18-21, 21-17.
Karakuchi crew showed sharp returns and clever save of the ball during drawn out exchange.
Marino Pungilung made several dives to keep the ball alive for Karakuchi and was successful enough to commit some points with his strong spike at the net.
Kirk Schuler of Karakuchi also provided the boost at the net with his returns.
At one episode of the game, Schuler crafted a spike which Kegn hall of Kimoichi was not able to deflect, or answer.
Kimoichi, the sixth team in the standings, miscalculated several shots as some of its members got too eager with the ball.
During the second set, Kimoichi fired away with some heavy hits but, the team could cover for the open areas in its side of the court on some instances, thus giving way for Karakuchi to claim the third set.
Karakuchi is now up to challenge Enyophace – the no. 2 team in the league standings.
Enyophace beat MHS Oakies later in the night, 21-11, 18-21, 21-9.
All losing teams were dropped from the list of hopefuls in the scheduled championship tonight.
