An Aimeliik Bat Boy connects for a hit during a game in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League at the Dandan baseball field.
THE Aimeliik Bat Boys bagged their second consecutive victory by slipping past Pare Pack, 17-15, in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
Both teams started strong with runs scored in the opening inning.
Leading off for Pare Pack was Ben Flores with a double, which turned into a scoring opportunity for the next batter, Henry Lizama, who earned an RBI single. Two outs followed, but Jose Lizama’s sacrifice cleared the lane for Henry Lizama to round the bases and give their team the lead, 2-0.
Pare Pack attempted to ride the momentum toward the bottom half by outing Aimeliik’s first two batters. But after Pare Pack’s pitcher walked the third batter in the lineup, Aimeliik’s Harry Nakamura sent one flying over the fence for a two-run homer that tied the game, 2-2.
Pare Pack managed to regain control thanks to a solo homerun by Kier Agda in the top of the second inning, but in bottom half, the Aimeliik Bat Boys retaliated with six runs highlighted by a two-run homer by Mike Iguel and solo homeruns by Irvin and Nokki Saralu to seize the lead, 8-3.
Pare Pack rebalanced the scales in the top of the third inning with a five-run highlight reel led by Henry Lizama’s three-run homer and Jose Lizama’s two-run homer to record the second deadlock of the ball game, 8-8.
Pare Pack managed to stay afloat in the next two innings by scoring four runs while the Aimeliik Bat Boys delivered two.
In the top of the sixth inning, Pare Pack seemed to have the win in the palm of their hands as Henry Lizama stood at the frontline of a three-run onslaught that included his third homerun to extend the deficit, 15-10.
But they failed to keep up on the defensive end, allowing the Aimeliik Bat Boys to stage a seven-run comeback that was ignited by Mike Iguel’s three-run homer. This was followed by a two-run homer courtesy of Lamarc Iguel and Irvin Saralu’s second solo homerun to give them the lead once again, 17-15.
Pare Pack tried to get back in control in the top of the seventh and final inning with a runner reaching third base to open a scoring opportunity. But the Aimeliik Bat Boys secured two consecutive flyouts to end the game victorious.
