Aldrin notches 1st win in Blue Haus caging

It was a relatively close and low-scoring game as both teams missed short jumpers and forcing pesky traveling violations.

Aldrin was up 14-7 after the first quarter, but let their seven-point lead slide as MBI slowly got back into the game, culminating in a three-point buzzer beater from Melbert Delarama to send the game to halftime with his team trailing only by four, 26-22.

Aldrin started the third quarter with more of a sense of urgency and started to tighten up their defense, but MBI kept attacking the paint and kept the game close going into the final quarter.

But Aldrin finally pulled away behind John Jugos’ nine points in the fourth to help seal his team’s first victory.

Jugos led his team’s winning effort with 14 points.

His teammates David Indalecio and Moreno Martin complemented him with 13 points apiece.

Art Trajeno and Melbert Delarama were the main options for MBI scoring 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Scores:

Aldrin 60 – Jugos 14, Indalecio 13, Martin 13, Griffin 6, Ciano 4, Santos 4, Laniyo 3, Isip 3

MBI 50 – Trajeno 18, Delarama 13, Achas 8, Tala 3, Alvarez 2, Angeles 2, Viola 2, Cabrera 2

Quarter scores: 14-7, 26-22, 39-33, 60-50

Pacific Postal 75, 8th Division 69

Pacific Postal slipped past 8th Division, 75-69, in an earlier game.

Mel Usi had a very strong game for Pacific Postal posting a game-high 24 points.

But 8th Division’s consistent scoring kept them within striking distance of the lead behind Dan Mateo’s 19 points.

Despite trailing Pacific Postal by 10 heading into the final quarter, 8th Division eventually cut the lead to six after scoring 23 in the fourth.

However, that was to no avail as Pacific Postal held off the late run and ultimately finished the game on charity strikes by Joboy Agbanlog, Mico Usi, and Rick Bien.

Scores:

Pacific Portal 75 – Me. Usi 24, Bicera 16, Mi. Usi 11, Acosta 8, Agbanlog 5, Aquel 4, Bautista 4, Bien 3

8th Division 69 – Mateo 19, Detera 15, Vallente 9, Camacho 6, Pona 5, Miguel 5, Abuan 4, Brana 4, Cortes 2

Quarter scores: 16-12, 36-29, 56-46, 75-69
