Asahi crushes Tokahao in championship series to retain title

ASAHI successfully defended their title in the masters division of the 2025 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League on Sunday, powering past Tokahao in a best-of-three championship series held at the Dandan ball field.

Asahi was simply unmatched, showcasing their dominance against Tokahao in the first game of the series.

They first asserted control with a flawless defensive performance, recording three consecutive outs in the opening inning without allowing a hit. In the bottom half of the inning, Asahi went on a scoring spree, with contributions from the entire batting lineup. Paython Rdiall and Byron Kaipat drew first blood with an RBI single and RBI double, respectively, while Taylor Germance hit a three-run homer to bring his teammates home, tallying 11 consecutive runs before the inning ended.

While Tokahao remained silent, Asahi added four more runs in the second inning to extend the lead to 15-0.

In the third inning, Tokahao finally got on the scoreboard with a two-RBI single by Peter Camacho. But Asahi answered with homers by Kaipat, Germance, and Jack Cepeda, bringing in four more runs to maintain a comfortable advantage, 19-2.

During the next four innings, Tokahao began mounting a comeback, scoring nine runs with several RBIs and a couple of home runs by the end of the seventh inning. However, Asahi responded with 11 runs of their own, led by Kaipat and Germance, who contributed two and four home runs, respectively, to secure a 30-11 victory.

Game 2 was no different, as Asahi extended their reign with another blowout win over Tokahao, 24-4, clinching the series and the championship title for the second consecutive year.
