TEAM Asahi remains at the top of the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League after bagging their 14th win of the season by trouncing Peliliu, 16-5, at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.

In the first inning, only one of Team Asahi’s first three at bat was able to reach first base. However, Suo Matsutaro, the runner on base, was able to make his rounds thanks to a triple connected by Paython Rdiall, who earned an RBI before the third out.

For their part, Peliliu’s Jude Dickenson and Alvin Salas sacrificed time in the box to bring in John Terlaje and Mark Flores and take the early lead, 2-1.

In the second inning, Asahi’s Matsutaro hit an RBI double while Stan Abraham, Anson Jones and Darwin Masaharu each chipped in an RBI single for a total of seven runs to seize the lead, 8-2.

After collecting three straight outs in the third, Asahi continued the bombardment by adding five more runs led by Taylor Germance with a solo homerun and Masaharu with a two-RBI double as their team moved further out of reach, 13-2.

Peliliu answered with three runs in the bottom half and denied any runs in the fourth, but they failed to maintain efficiency.

Asahi sealed the deal in the top of the fifth by squeezing in three more runs as Peliliu failed to get out of the gutter and had to accept defeat, 5-16.
