Bad weather hampers practice but Junior All Stars confident in World Series

Yesterday, the Junior All Stars were in the middle of catching practice at 5 p.m., when the rain poured driving them off Francisco “Tanko” Palacios Baseball Field.

Team manager, Thelma Mizer said when times like these happen, they move on with their practice inside the Gilbert C. Ada Gym. There, at least they can do pitching, catching and a little bit of batting.

Since they started it a week after they brought home the Asia-Pacific Little League Baseball Tournament title late in June, heavy rain always shortened their practice.

The NMI Junior All Stars are leaving on Friday next week for the World Series that will be held in Taylor, Michigan.

Assistant coach, Oliver Secharmidal said practice session in the gym is limited because the said facility is also being used by other sports organizations. So the rains really cut their practice time too short.

However, Secharmidal said every body is confident they can play good in the World Series. In fact, he said, the NMI Juniors are long ready to play.

Player agent, Walter Macaranas said he can see that players are “more than ready” for the World Series despite the bad weather that keeps stalling their practice.

Meanwhile, the parents and coaching staff continue to raise fund for the trip of the Junior All Stars and other NMI delegates.

They will be holding raffle draw at the Minatchom Atdao at 12 noon on Saturday.  The grand price of $500 and baby grand prize of $300 awaits the winners.

There will also be in-kind prizes to be given.
