Baseball field done next week

Sports and Recreation Director Joe Lizama in an interview early this week said they are expecting that the RPM Construction, the contractor hired to repair the baseball field will get the job done by next week.

The renovation of the said sports facility is among the two projects that was funded   $670,070 through capital improvement project. The other one is the Sadog Tasi Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The project started prior to the opening of the CNMI’s main baseball leagues—the Saipan Little League Baseball and the Saipan Major League Baseball, whose organizers raised the safety concerns in the baseball field.

The perimeter fence of the baseball field was undergoing construction when the two leagues opened, bringing discomfort to many of the players, coaches, managers and baseball fans.

Lizama also said that the manufactured sand that some players complained about had been removed.

Yesterday, the RPM’s workers were almost done installing the cyclone wires surrounding the baseball park.

Games are cancelled this weekend for the Lenten season.

The workers assured the ongoing league will have a brand new ball field when the games resume next week.
