Blue Hauz pummels Rollers, 75-73

Unfortunately enough Blue Hauz’s center player Edwin Santos and teammate Sam Fernandez were fouled during the last 15 seconds of the game allowing the Blue Hauz to escape 75-73.

Blue Hauz nailed a three period lead over the younger Rollers Happiness last Wednesday night. Jun Tabora ignited their winning rally after his first six points in the first quarter, 20-13.

Rodney Sacramento then marked another five points to preserve the Blue Hauz’s lead, 37-32, at the bottom of the first half.

Another six points came from Tabora in the third quarter. It all came down during the last 10 minutes of the game.

Don Brennan and Ray Babauta each scored a three pointer shots followed by a rally of jumpers from Patrick Torres to bring the scores to 73-72 in favor of the Rollers Happiness.

In the last 15 seconds of the game Edwin Santos and Sam Fernandez were fouled allowing them two free-throws a piece. Santos and Fernandez each nailed the second charity to grab the lead, 75-73.

With one last attempt from the Rollers Happiness, the ball was thrown up only to bounce off of the backboard. The Rollers Happiness was shy two points from putting an end to the Blue Hauz’s winning streak, 75-73.

Mobil 79, Ferrera 72

JUAN Maratita’s free-throw shots and final jumper was all team Mobil needed to foil the Ferrera Builders in the second game of the 2nd Season QQ Car Rental Basketball League, 79-72.

The Builders managed a one point lead early into the game after Wowie Abuel bagged two jumpers, 18-17.

Marvin Rabauliman’s six markers allowed the Mobil to snatch the lead during the second quarter followed by a quick inbound pass to their center player Larry Sharry, 37-36.

Rabauliman then collared another 11 points during the third quarter not once giving a chance to the Ferrera Builders who struggled with their passes and keeping the ball in their possession, 61-50.

It was all over for the Ferrera Builders during the last period of the game. Juan Maratita was fouled twice allowing him four penalty shots.

Maratita nailed all four surging through with a final jumper from him and teammate Sharry to tuck the victory safely away from the Ferrera Builders, 79-72.

QQ League hosts half-court activities

Meanwhile the league coordinators have launched a couple of basketball activities during Wednesday and Friday night games at half-time.

“The QQ Basketball league will be conducting fun activities during half-time. These activities will be open to all the fans,” explained league director Rey Perez in an email to the Marinas Variety.

“Anyone who is interested will get a chance to win gift certificates from Hardrock and QQ Car Rental. This is a way to bring more excitement and fun to our on-going league,” added Perez.

The activities will include three-point shootouts, the half-court challenge, the tap-board challenge, and the Buzzer Beater Challenge.

“This is the first time on Saipan that a basketball league will host half-court activities. We are glad that we are pioneering this kind of fun events dedicated to our fans who watch the game every scheduled night,” said Perez.

Mobil’s Ron Gamboa debut his half-court shooting talents after bagging the event last Wednesday night at the Garapan court after shooting two half-court shots in during the half-time break.

Sonics, Blue Hauz maintain perfect record

In other news, as of June 2, team Sonics and Blue Hauz remain atop the league with a perfect five win no loss record followed by team Mobil and the Ferrera Builders with four wins and two losses a piece.

The Smart Cagers follow with three wins and two losses and Ali’i Konflikt with two wins and four losses. The Rollers Madness has one win and four losses while the Rollers Happiness and team Prospect have yet to break even.
