THE Blue Jays continue to solidify their sixth-place position on the 2025 Saipan Baseball League leaderboard with their fourth win of the season after defeating the D-9ers, 13-1, in a game held Friday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.
Both teams came out swinging in the opening inning.
The D-9ers drew first blood in the top of the first, with Joe Tudela bringing in second-at-bat Josiah Lizama for an RBI single before the Blue Jays stopped the bleeding. Defensively, however, the D-9ers failed to match their offensive start, as infield errors allowed the Blue Jays to score three runs and take a 3-1 lead.
Unfortunately for the D-9ers, that was the end of their highlight reel, as they were shut out for the rest of the game. The Blue Jays, for their part, seized the opportunity to pile on more runs over the next two innings.
In the bottom of the second, the Blue Jays extended their lead by scoring four more runs — two off D-9ers’ errors, and two more courtesy of Frankie Lieto and Kiana Camacho, who delivered an RBI double and RBI single, respectively — pushing the score to 7-1.
While the D-9ers were left stranded with a runner on third base in the top of the third, the Blue Jays capitalized again, bringing in six more runs in the bottom half of the inning to activate the 10-run rule with a commanding 13-1 lead.
Though the D-9ers managed to shut down the Blue Jays in the fourth inning, they remained scoreless through the top of the fifth and ultimately accepted defeat, with the game ending after only four complete innings, 13-1.
