THE Brewers are headed to the finale of the 2024 SBL Masters League after defeating the Dodgers, 21-11, in a semifinal game at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Tuesday.
Despite the final score, both teams were equally matched throughout most of the game.
The Brewers came out swinging in the top of the first inning, scoring two runs on RBI singles by Hector Efraim and Frank Robert. In the bottom half, the Dodgers matched their output, tying the game at 2-2 with RBI singles from Robert Bansil and Glen Camacho.
In the second inning, the Brewers kept up the pressure, adding four more runs — two off errors — while the Dodgers managed only two to trail 6-4.
With the Brewers ahead, their confidence — and their lead — continued to grow as they added three more runs in the third inning, extending their advantage to 9-4. In the fourth, they tried to pull further away with two more runs, but the Dodgers stayed resilient, answering with three in the bottom half to cut the deficit to 11-7.
Despite the Dodgers’ efforts, they couldn’t stop the Brewers’ biggest offensive outburst yet. It began with a two-RBI single by John Taitano, followed by an RBI single from Hector Efraim. The damage didn’t end there as runners filled the corners. Frank Robert then crushed a three-run homer over the fence, and the Brewers tacked on four more runs, totaling 10 in the inning to seize a commanding 21-7 lead.
In the bottom half, the Dodgers continued to fight and were rewarded with four runs. However, their rally was cut short when Brewers pitcher Dennis Cabrera struck out a batter for the third and final out, securing an early win for the Brewers after just five innings, 21-11.
Up next, the Brewers take on the Pirates for the championship.
