THE Cardinals bagged another double-digit win, this time against the D-9er’s, 20-7, in the 2025 Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Friday.
The Cardinals established control of the tempo early. Capitalizing off errors following a series of hits, the team quickly built momentum with four runs scored led by Brian Camacho and Tony Tenorio with an RBI single each.
In the bottom half, the D-9er’s had a runner on third but were thwarted by a double play that ended the inning. However, they limited the Cardinals to just two runs in the top of the second and broke the silence in the bottom frame with a run of their own to trail, 6-1.
However, the D-9er’s quickly slipped further behind, unable to stop the bleeding as they gave up three more runs — highlighted by Pat Tenorio’s two-RBI double — that extended the Cardinals’ lead to 9–1.
Throughout the next three innings, the Cardinals aimed to force the 10-run mercy rule by bringing in a run in the fourth and the fifth followed by two more in the sixth, but the D-9er’s responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to stay in the game.
Undeterred, the Cardinals stretched their lead into double digits in the top of the seventh and final inning, erupting for seven runs, with more than half the lineup delivering RBI singles.
The D-9er’s gave it their all in the bottom half but managed only two runs before the Cardinals secured the final three outs to seal the 20-7 victory.
