CHACHA Ocean View Middle School bagged their first win in the boys middle school division of the NMIVA-PSS Interscholastic Volleyball League SY23-24 by outscoring Dandan Middle School in two sets at the Marianas High School gym on Thursday.
Chacha’s roster consisted of Mark Aquino, Robert Billy, Jesse Borja, Kenneth Borja, Ethan Dikito, Tatum Jones, Jeremyah Kisa, Isaiah Ojeda, Kenneth Pua and Aundrey Taitano.
They played with determination and tried their best to return each possession. Although they committed errors, DMS made more and suffered a loss in the first set, 15-21.
In the second set, Chacha was led by Jones who surprised spectators — and DMS — with his endless persistence while the rest of the team covered his back and weakside.
DMS could not match Chacha’s tempo and had to eventually wave the white flag, 13-21.
Joining the winner’s circle were Agape Christian School, which bested Francisco M. Sablan Middle School, 21-16, 19-21, 15-11; and Hopwood Middle School, which outlasted Saipan Community School, 22-20, 21-15.
