CHOCHU Maigu stormed back to beat Kanaka 4, 6-5, on Sunday as Devon Pangelinan sealed the victory with a dramatic walk-off single in the 2025 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League at the Dandan ball field.
Kanaka 4 struck first, with Dung Lizama driving in a run on a sacrifice fly followed by a solo home run from Troy Laniyo to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning.
They extended their advantage in the second, adding three more runs on a two-RBI single by Sunny Kaipat and an RBI single from Beti to make it 5-0.
Chochu Maigu, still scoreless after four innings, finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth. Orren Cruz got them on the board with an RBI single that scored Pangelinan, and Benji Palacios followed with a two-RBI triple to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Kanaka 4 was held scoreless the rest of the way, and Chochu Maigu tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when an error allowed the tying run to score, forcing extra innings.
In the eighth, Chochu Maigu’s defense set down Kanaka 4 in order. Then, after two quick outs in the bottom half, Pangelinan came through with a walk-off single to bring home Jared Ayuyu with the winning run, sealing the 6-5 comeback victory.
Also joining the winner’s circle were Brewskees over Blue Jays, 5-3; Kebruka over Just Bros, 11-3; and Just 4 Fun over Saipal, 10-0.
